Import templates

A spreadsheet import has to be told which of your columns is which. An import template saves that answer so the next upload of the same kind does not ask again.

You do not create templates here. A template is saved from an import dialog, at the point where you have just finished mapping the columns. Settings → Import templates is where they are listed, edited and removed afterwards.

ColumnWhat it shows
NameWhat you called the template
Import typeWhich import flow it belongs to
Mapped fieldsHow many fields the template maps
Number & date formatThe two format choices stored with it
UpdatedWhen it last changed

Two badges can appear beside the import type:

  • Unregistered — no import flow in the app claims this type any more. The template is kept, but its fields cannot be checked against anything.
  • N stale fields — the import type has changed since the template was saved, and some of the fields it maps no longer exist. Those mappings are ignored on upload.

Open a template and you can change four things.

Template name. Free text.

Import type is shown but cannot be changed. A template belongs to the import it was created from.

Format. How the app should read the numbers and dates in the file:

  • Number format — US (1,234.56) or EU (1.234,56)
  • Date format — Auto-detect, one of the six explicit patterns (dd-mm-yyyy, mm-dd-yyyy, yyyy-mm-dd, dd/mm/yyyy, mm/dd/yyyy, yyyy/mm/dd), or Custom pattern

Choosing a custom pattern opens a field for it. Build the pattern from the tokens dd, mm and yyyy or yy, each used at most once — for example dd.mm.yyyy.

Column mapping. One row per mapped field. Each row names the field, its type, and the source column — the header as it appears in your uploaded file.

Aliases are extra headings the same field should also answer to, which is what lets one template cope with several suppliers’ spelling of the same column. Matching ignores case, accents and separators, so one alias of min stock already covers Min Stock, min_stock and min.stock.

Any field of the import type that is not mapped yet is offered below the rows — click one to add it. A row whose field no longer exists in the import type says so, and is ignored on upload.

Re-map it rather than starting over. Open it, fix the rows flagged as stale, add any field the import has gained, and save. Everything else — the name, the formats, the aliases you have built up — is kept.
