Restocking and stock counts
Restock materials is the page for moving stock in bulk: a delivery arriving, a stock count, a correction across several locations. One line per material and location, and one Save that applies the lot.
You reach it from Raw materials — More actions → Restock inventory in the title bar for everything, or Restock on a row menu, in the bulk bar or on a material’s own page for a selection. What you had selected comes with you.

The grid
Section titled “The grid”One line per material and location — a material stocked at three locations is three lines. The columns are the same nine however many locations you have, so nothing pushes the numbers off the right edge of the screen:
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Material, SKU, Location | Which line this is. |
| Unit | The unit you are typing in. Press the pencil to change it; the change applies to every location of that material. |
| Current | What is there now. |
| Adjust by / Set to | What you type. The input is always open, and the header follows the entry mode you have chosen in the toolbar. |
| Converted | Your entry in the material’s own unit, when you typed in a different one. |
| Resulting | What the stock will be once you apply. |
| Issues | Anything blocking the line, with the fix offered right there. |
The grid scrolls inside the page, so the toolbar, the counters and the Save bar stay where they are however far down the list you go.
Finding the lines you want
Section titled “Finding the lines you want”- Locations narrows the grid to the locations you are working at. It filters the lines rather than hiding columns, and it is remembered in the page address, so the link you bookmark or send to a colleague opens on the same locations. Nothing you typed is lost when a line is hidden — hidden entries are still checked and still applied.
- Search matches materials, SKUs and location names.
- All and Modified (n) are the two views: everything, or only the lines you have touched.
- Filters narrow by origin (Shopify-linked or virtual), by unit conversion state, and by whether a line has an issue.
- Modified, Errors and Warnings are counters beside the filters, and each one is also a switch — click Errors to see only the lines that are blocking your Save.
Adjust by, or Set to
Section titled “Adjust by, or Set to”The toolbar decides what your numbers mean:
- Adjust by — a change.
+12adds twelve,-3removes three. - Set to — a count.
40makes it forty, whatever it was.
Use Set to for a stock take and Adjust by for a delivery. A cell filled from an uploaded file keeps whichever the file’s column meant, and is marked if that differs from the mode you are in.
Units and conversions
Section titled “Units and conversions”You can type in a unit other than the material’s own — kilograms into a material measured in grams, for instance. Assemblified converts it and shows you the result in the Converted column before anything is written.
If the conversion does not exist yet, the row says so and offers to add it (or to add the missing unit) right there, so you do not have to leave the page and lose what you have typed. The same two are in the title bar’s More actions menu as Units and Conversions, for when you know in advance that you will need one. See Unit conversions.
Working from a bill of materials
Section titled “Working from a bill of materials”Filter by bill lets you pick one or more bills of materials or assembly bills, and the grid is then only the materials those recipes consume — every level of them, including anything nested. This is the fastest way to restock for a production run.
The template
Section titled “The template”Download template gives you a CSV or Excel file of the current grid: every material, every location, the current quantity and an empty column to fill in. Fill it in your own spreadsheet, then drop it back onto the page and the grid fills from it. Rows are matched by SKU and variant, and anything that could not be matched is reported rather than silently skipped.
Applying
Section titled “Applying”Apply sits in the title bar, beside Download template and a More menu holding Upload, Filter by bill, Units and Conversions. The Save bar appears as soon as you type your first number, and its Apply is the same apply. Discard clears everything you entered.
Both open the same Review the restock dialog first. It lists every line that is about to be written — the material, the location, the adjustment and the current → resulting quantity in the material’s own unit — and nothing is changed until you confirm it. Lines for virtual materials are marked: they are kept in Assemblified only and are not sent to Shopify.
After you confirm, Assemblified checks with Shopify that every line can actually land — a product that has been deleted, or one with inventory tracking switched off, is reported and skipped instead of failing halfway through.
Large grids are applied in batches, so a big stock take does not have to succeed or fail as one block. When it is done you get one summary:
- how many lines were written;
- every line that failed, named, with why — your entry stays in the grid so you can fix and retry;
- every line that was skipped, named, with why. The most common reason is stock shared with your store group, which is managed from the main store.
